We are excited to be able to send this letter to you today. For some time, God has laid it on our hearts to use our lives and our resources to serve a greater purpose. Brian’s vision has been to reach out to the poor and to lift up the hurting. In 2 Corinthians Paul explains, “Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality, as it is written: ‘He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little’” (vv. 13-15, NIV).
“I’ve never gone hungry, always felt safe/ I got some money in my pocket, shoes on my feet/ In my own little world.” In this song by Matthew West, he asks, “But what if there’s a bigger picture?” There is a greater purpose for our lives! “Whatever you have done for the least of these,” Jesus said, “you have done unto me.” Is it not God’s desire for our lives to share the good news of His love by caring for those around us who are hurting? Our desire is to see the bigger picture and to live out our greater purpose for God’s kingdom.
For most of us, coming home to a comfortable house and a warm, satisfying meal is a part of our day we simply take for granted. What if it were not? Imagine this: you come home from a long hard day of work. It is time to prepare a nutritious meal for you and your family. You walk into the kitchen and throw a casserole into the oven only to find that it doesn’t work, again.
Here’s the bigger picture: The staff and children at the Manuelito Children’s Home will find themselves in this position unless we help to turn their situation around. Manuelito’s vision is to see Honduras free of children living on the city streets. They rescue these children, give them an education, and enable them to become productive citizens of their country who seek God’s will in their lives. However, the Project has an oven that is 20 years old. Often it does not work, and they must use a grill for cooking instead. With your help, we can provide a new, reliable stove to ensure that the children at Manuelito Children’s Home will have a properly cooked meal.
Will you help us to share God’s love with these children? Paul related to the church, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:6-7). Will you choose to help Manuelito properly provide for the needs of the children in their care? If God is laying it on your heart to help us share God’s love with these children, please contact us today.
